bounteous pepper harvest

We supply high quality pepper and other spices from Vietnam and Cambodia...

Our specialism is in finding small farms whose pepper has truly distinctive aromas and taste. Every batch of pepper we sell can be traced back to the farm and harvest of origin using the Lot number. We buy direct from the farm and then sieve and sort pepper by hand to remove small and misshapen and miscoloured berries to ensure that only perfect pepper reaches our customers. We send batches of pepper to EU accredited laboratories for testing to ensure that it is free from mycotoxins and chemical residues.

The farms we buy from tend to be small, usually 1 Ha or smaller and we buy only their finest (usually red) pepper. This means we can buy as much as 500kg or as little as 20kg per farm. We work closely with the farmers to ensure the sustainability of the pepper advising on key aspects such as use of irrigation and organic fertilisers and insecticides. We pay above market rates to secure the supplies and to maintain a close working partnership with the farmers.

Apart from pepper we also sell specialised wild peppers (Zanthoxylum rhetsa and Litsea cubeba) which grow deep in the forests of northern Vietnam and the Central Highlands.

Currently we focus on the supply of medium sized batches of pepper to specialist spice merchants but we are working on a range of packaging for restaurants and retail markets.

For anyone looking for the highest quality of spices from this part of the world we would like to be your first (and only) port of call. Poivres d'Indochine works closely with customers regularly meeting face to face to ensure the exact product you need. We have some innovative products that are not listed on these pages but we would be pleased to discuss and send samples.

Knowing that an increasing number of European buyers are wholly or partly focused on organic products we have identified certified organic farms in Cambodia and in Vietnam. Organic certification is in its infancy, particularly in Vietnam, but we work with farmers to help them achieve this status. We can supply certified organic of all products listed on our website except wild forest peppers.
